Sonora Sunrise Heart by par-me Sonora Sunrise Heart by par-me
Sonora Sunrise, aka Sonora Sunset, Sonoran Sunrise, Sonoran Sunset - It is comprised of Chrysocolla, which is a beautiful blue/green, Cuprite, which has some great red variations, and Iron, contributing dramatic blacks for added contrast. According to the Mineralogy Database and their Forum this Crystalline Entity comes from only one known location in the world and that is a relatively small unknown mine called Mina Milpillas, Cuitaca, Mun. de Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. This makes me want to cry. My Lapidary teacher Keith Horst, bought tons of this and it was a real treat to see him work with it. I hope I find a heart of this someday for my own collection to remember him by. I always thought he gave it that name, but I don't know for sure.
